Snow Bunnies - Katoomba

Have to include Friday 17th July as it turned out to be the best day of my life so far.  Caught up with 3 of my lovely mountain friends on the train at Hazelbrook to journey up to Katoomba as it had been coated in a layer or two of lovely Snow!!

We passed through Lawson and I saw the white stuff on the side of the tracks, I yelled out inside the carriage, ‘there’s snow’.  I was so excited and found it hard to be demure especially since we were sitting on a Quiet Carriage.  My excitement grew to chills as we gingerly disembarked at Katoomba Station, the platform was covered in a thick white sludge and slippery icy bits.

We slowly made our way down to Kingsford Smith Memorial Park as it was the best place to build a Snow Penguin!  Yes that’s right, in honor of the Penguin being away overseas we all decided to build a Penguin instead of the obligatory Snow MAN.

The snow was thick, rich pickings for balls to throw and throw them we did, big and small, it was after I threw an enormous one that I found out there is proper etiquette when making balls to throw, sorry Sarah.

Miriam was lying in the snow, she had found a patch of Virgin snow to make a Snow Angel, I so wanted to make one but decided not to as I was wearing a skirt, not a modesty decision but a functionality restriction dear Lorna, pants are the required gear for making Angels.

It was pure heaven on a big fat white stick, giggling like school girls and having the time of our lives.

Stout and Pizza for Breakfast at the Station Bar was a super injection of goodness, then more white stuff, a bit of shopping at the newly relocated Skin Deep and then the best Irish Coffee on the mountain at the grand Carrington Hotel.

Best Day Best Day Best Day

Thank you to Sarah Keighery, Miriam Williamson and Lorna McKenzie xxx
